They're just like us ... sure ...

In Malaysia -- a Muslim country -- the highest civil court of the land a few days ago rejected a woman's appeal to have her ID card modified. How modified? She wanted to be listed as a Christian and not a Muslim.

So what does a civil court have to do with a person's beliefs? Here and in Western Europe, nothing. But in Malaysia, as in all Muslim lands, that decision can only be made through a Sharia court -- an Islamic court -- a religious court. It is as if you wanted to become Catholic while previously a Baptist. To have the state acknowledge this -- though why the state should have anything at all to do with someone's religious beliefs is mysterious to me -- you'd have to go before a Baptist court.

And as we all know, apostasy is a death crime in Islam. So, for all intents and purposes, Lina Joy, aged 43, will have to remain Muslim because if she were to go before the Sharia Court, criminal prosecution would follow. Reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition of the Isabella and Phillip days.

Just another heads up as to why we should NEVER give in to Islam.
