How to report

As usual, the US press experiments on how to portray the US military in the least favorable light:

U.S.-Led Airstrike Kills 7 Children in Afghanistan

Kabul Blast Shows Taliban Capability

This from CBS news (remember Dan Rather?). So what was the deal? The Air Force, in response to a deadly suicide bombing which killed 35 police instructors and wounded dozen more, targeted a suspected Al Qaeda operations center. That center was a mosque and an attached madrassa (islamic school -- not necessarily anything to do with children). The center had been under surveillance for days and there had been nothing to suggest that there were children in there.

So instead of a headline: "Terrorists hide behind civilians, children and religion, again ..." we have a detailed examination designed to show why the US was wrong. The people made to look bad on the surface are our men and women in uniform, risking their lives to confront the demonstrably dangerous terrorist organization, Al Qaeda. Does anyone not remember the Burquas, the executions for kite flying, the absence of music, the subjugation of women, the intolerance for any other thoughts other than those permitted by ultra restrictive Taliban, hosts of Al Qaeda.

Put this another way: these chicken shits hide behind kids and our press blames us? IF you are the xx chromosome persuasion, I fail to see how you can fall for the crap handed out by the media: your sisters will once again be enslaved as a matter of government policy. Is that what you want? Because that WILL be the result if NATO fails.

Strange ....

Strange that the anti-globalization activists took to the seas outside of Rostock (actually a place called Heiligendamm), Germany today. Why strange? Well, the activitst were on "RIBs", that is, rigid inflatable boats. Hypocrites.
Greenpeace activisits ride on rubber boats and its flagship Rainbow Warrior hanging a huge banner calling for stoppage of the Group of Eight's illegal logging during their protest in the water off Nago City on the southwestern Japanese island of Okinawa where G-8 summit is being held on Friday. Four activists were arrested in the day when they entered Nago harbor aboard Rainbow Warrior and tried to deliver a statement to world leaders
So lemme see, the fuel came from (probably) the Middle East, provided by some multinational energy company, or maybe from Russia, that bastion of regional "mind your own business." The lubricants from Yamaha or some other outboard maker. The outboards from Japan or the United States (the only two outboard making nations -- though I believe the Chinese make some, if you'd trust your life offshore with Chinese outboards, the Chinese navy appear to use Yamahas). The RIB came from some European maker, but the raw materials are chiefly oil-based resins and other compounds. Rubber, as we know, is controlled by large multinationals who probably had some lackey tapping trees in Malaysia for pennies an hour. The clothing worn by the activists ... polar fleece and such ... maybe from Patagonia (the company) which is itself a multinational, although it tries to cloak itself in organic and natural practices.

Essentially, a multinational, capitalist enabled protest against precisely those people. If the activists had gone out there in Viking-inspired longboats, using oar-power or the wind, dressed in virgin wool and raw cotton -- then they might have had my attention. As it is, they are a bunch of whining hypocrites. No doubt after a hard day's protesting, they retired to a small sushi bar in Rostock to plan tomorrow's activities. And we know about sushi.

Chavez shows his stripes

And have we heard even a word from the Democrat apologists for Hugo Chavez? Huh? A single condemnation?

Just in case you don't know what I am on about, "populist" leader Chavez of Venezuela forced the only opposition television station off of the airwaves in that country. Stating that the Radio Caracas Television had "become a threat to the country I decided not to renew the license because its my responsibility."

And so the free press is systematically dismantled throughout the world. When 5000 protesters attempted to protest this assault on free speech, police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets. Cambridge's darling -- mostly because of Chavez's stance with regards to Boosh -- shows not only he true intents, but the depth of hypocrisy in America's liberal left.

Kerry caught

As if you would not suspect otherwise .... Senator John Blowbag Kerry (not to be confused with the Senior Blowbag from Massachusetts) just got caught overspending legal campaign limits for the 2004 Democratic run. To the tune of $1.4 million.

Ok, that is not a whole lot of money in the scheme of presidential campaigns, but what really gets me is what it was spent on: about $1.3 million that went unreported went to re-configuring the campaign jets. Huh?

$1.3 million dollars to re-configure jets to make them more suitable to your campaign? Are we rock stars with a taste for excess or politicians claiming to reign in government spending? Kerry's Boeing 757 (sure he needed the space like Pelosi does), had $63,000 spent on exterior decals. What? Another $900,000 went to other things inside the plane. And Edwards -- the Veep nomination .. had $301,000 spent on reconfiguring his 727: $225,000 for a new telephone system (to keep the calls and campaign solicitations coming) and $28,000 for decals.

Ok, pick up your jaw and take a breath.

They're just like us ... sure ...

In Malaysia -- a Muslim country -- the highest civil court of the land a few days ago rejected a woman's appeal to have her ID card modified. How modified? She wanted to be listed as a Christian and not a Muslim.

So what does a civil court have to do with a person's beliefs? Here and in Western Europe, nothing. But in Malaysia, as in all Muslim lands, that decision can only be made through a Sharia court -- an Islamic court -- a religious court. It is as if you wanted to become Catholic while previously a Baptist. To have the state acknowledge this -- though why the state should have anything at all to do with someone's religious beliefs is mysterious to me -- you'd have to go before a Baptist court.

And as we all know, apostasy is a death crime in Islam. So, for all intents and purposes, Lina Joy, aged 43, will have to remain Muslim because if she were to go before the Sharia Court, criminal prosecution would follow. Reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition of the Isabella and Phillip days.

Just another heads up as to why we should NEVER give in to Islam.
